A Study in Red's move to a post-hardcore sound is a suitably ambitious one, and they have a new single to prove their tangible worthiness.
Led by Sarah Barnett, ASIR have evidently solidified their entry into the Australian post-hardcore mix with the release of their single 'Crown of Thorns'.
The foreboding and suspenseful metalcore drums and bass -heavy ambience intro gives way to Barnett's raspy screamo–a refreshing addition to the plethora of male-domination in this genre.
The personal is laid bare on 'Crown of Thorns' which includes elements of genre bending pop-rock, alt- rock and melodic post-hardcore. Consequently, and evidently – A Study in Red are clearly forging their way forward with an admirable tenacity.
ASIR are gaining traction on all popular social media platforms and look set to be the next big thing in female-led Melbourne post-hardcore.
