[Heavy News] There’s No-peth News Like OPETH News (Australian Tour, 2026).

Some Good (Oh-yeah-peth) & Bad (NO-peth) News:

Now, this is a bit of a selfish post for once on Music Mondays.

Well… selfish might be the wrong term?

But definitely opinionated.

I always make a point to never, ever miss Opeth on tour.

Time and time again, their live spectacle has felt like the pinnacle of what you can expect to cop from a modern progressive metal band’s show.

Heck, this week’s show at Palais Theatre, Melbourne will be the tenth time since the mid-late 2000’s. And that’s rookie numbers compared to some even more hardcore punters I’ve met.

Point being not “Wow, look at all the times Brady saw some band, so cool and original”; moreso reflecfting a near-universally agreed upon prog-metal-fan social norm: An Opeth live show leads to a uniquely enthralling time few other bands of their ilk can hope to match.

Enough people agree with this sentiment it seems, that I have to lead with some bad news first.

Bad if you happen to reside outside banana-bending perma-humid northern climes of Queensland, - the tour has completely sold out, aside from a very small handful of tickets remaining for the Brisbane show @ Fortitude Music Hall this Thursday:

The news is obviously GOOD if you’re a progressive-metal loving Queenslander and you clocked this just in time.

Go. Go now, to thy ticket link below!

The other good news - quite a while back, I had the great pleasure of interviewing Martin Mendez. I won’t spare you any hyperbole here, either. #sorrynotsorry. The man is one of my biggest musical idols. As a bassist, he’s a massive influence and I’m sure both some of those nerves (and stoke) come through in the interview!

Martin was chill as hell though (like any good bassist), and it’s a great discussion worth sharing again. Not just for thoughts on the current tour, but also some great perspective around musicianship, his longevity in the band, keeping said role fresh, etc.

LINk to INTERVIEW:
