Lucidity: a state where the mind is unconfused, rational, and sound. It often describes brief moments of clarity in someone dealing with illness, dementia, or extreme stress.
On Saturday 13 March, 2027, a fresh curation of heavy metal and hardcore punk extremity will be inaugurated in Melbourne, Australia with Lucidity.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of their iconic Jane Doe record, legendary metalcore pioneers CONVERGE will crown their first visit to Australia since 2019 with a rare and exclusive performance of the paradigm-shattering, generationally defining 2001 album which retains a cult-like following to this day. The band has only performed the record twice in it's entirety at Roadburn in 2016 and Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in 2021. Jane Doe's opening track Concubine placed at #78 on Rolling Stone's list of 'The 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time' and cemented CONVERGE's place as innovative titans of heavy music.
Renowned for their expressive post-black metal by way of hardcore roots, Belgium’s OATHBREAKER will mark their first trip to the southern hemisphere with a festival exclusive set celebrating 10 years of their widely adored 2016 album Rheia. Redefining modern heavy music with their third studio album, along with relentless touring to follow, OATHBREAKER announced a hiatus in 2018 before reuniting in 2026 to commemorate the 10th anniversary milestone of the paradigm-shifting Rheia.
This event will also showcase the sheer chaos of renowned Australian powerviolence unit EXTORTION, with their rabid energy having recently been funnelled into the creation of the band’s forthcoming third album, marking their first full-length release in over a decade.
Texan metal punks PORTRAYAL OF GUILT will bookend their maiden voyage to Australia at Lucidity, with the ever-evolving extreme music chameleons touring in support of their 2026 record …Beginning of The End.
Having disbanded shortly after the release of their once under-appreciated slab of post-metal/hardcore Free To Rot, Free of Sin in 2012, Melbourne’s THE BRODERICK will pick up the pieces to celebrate 15 of their now cult-classic debut record as a festival exclusive.
The OATHBREAKER-adjacent, misanthropic black metal trio that is WIEGEDOOD will return to Australia for the first time since Direct Underground Festival in 2018 to provide their blistering output as a festival exclusive.
ENDS IN TRAGEDY, BLIND GIRLS, ISUA and MELTING will represent a diverse array of some of the finest domestic metal and hardcore sounds going to well and truly set the stage.
Limited to 2000 tickets, Lucidity will take place at the storied and iconic Melbourne Pavilion, a heritage listed building originally constructed as a wartime factory in 1945 and later redeveloped into a multi-purpose arts and entertainment space.
More than just live performance, Lucidity will also house Homewrecker Records, an exclusive pop-up record store installation designed and hand built by visual artist Callum Preston, live artist Q&As hosted by the Oblivious Maximus podcast, as well as market stalls, food trucks and more.

II: OATHBREAKER (BEL) Announce 2027 Australian Tour with PORTRAYAL OF GUILT (USA) & BLIND GIRLS (AUS):
Renowned for their expressive post-black metal by way of hardcore roots, Belgium’s OATHBREAKER will mark their first trip to the southern hemisphere with two headline shows this March off the back of their second-to-headline slot at the already sold out festival debut of Lucidity.
The two headline shows featuring special guests PORTRAYAL OF GUILT and BLIND GIRLS will take place on Thursday 11 March at Crowbar in Brisbane, supported by SLOWCUT, and Friday 12 March at Crowbar in Sydney, supported by DIPLOID.
Redefining modern heavy music with their third studio album, along with relentless touring to follow, OATHBREAKER announced a hiatus in 2018 before reuniting in 2026 to commemorate the 10th anniversary milestone of the paradigm-shifting Rheia. Blending extreme metal with art music aesthetics, OATHBREAKER are known for their intense, emotionally charged sound, skilfully incorporating elements of screamo, post-punk, shoegaze, sludge, and black metal.
Also on their maiden voyage down under, Texan metal punks PORTRAYAL OF GUILT will provide direct support, with the ever-evolving extreme music chameleons touring in support of their 2026 record …Beginning of The End. Over the last decade, PORTRAYAL OF GUILT have solidified themselves as a pillar in the extreme underground music scene. Defying accurate categorization since formation, the three piece blends elements of black, death and nu-metal with crust, screamo, powerviolence and hardcore.
The ferocious and acclaimed Australian screamo revival lords BLIND GIRLS will round out this incredibly visceral touring package.
Local force SLOWCUT will blast Brisbane open with their appropriately anguished post-metal, and the Melbourne experimental grindcore unit DIPLOID will bless the Sydney opening slot with their first visit to Sydney in several years.

III: CONVERGE (USA) - First Australian & New Zealand Headline Tour Since 2019
Few bands have left a mark on the landscape of heavy music quite like Converge.
For more than three decades, the Massachusetts four-piece have existed at the intersection of hardcore, punk and metal, creating music that is as emotionally confronting as it is sonically devastating. Never content to follow trends or compromise their artistic vision, Converge have built a legacy on intensity, innovation and an unwavering commitment to doing things their way.
Now, following the sell-out of Melbourne's inaugural Lucidity, Converge announced their long-awaited return to Australian and New Zealand stages in March 2027, marking their first Australian tour since 2019.
While 35 years might be a good time for some bands to look back and celebrate their achievements, Converge are doing quite the opposite.
In 2026, vocalist Jacob Bannon, guitarist Kurt Ballou, bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller delivered not one but two new full-length albums, Love Is Not Enough and Hum of Hurt, reaffirming why they remain one of the most vital and influential bands in extreme music. Released through Deathwish / Epitaph, the two records explore different sides of the band's creative identity. Where Love Is Not Enough leans into the metallic ferocity that has defined much of their career, Hum of Hurt is a rawer, more dynamic and emotionally exposed collection, drawing on the band's hardcore foundations and an ever-evolving approach to songwriting.
Of course, any discussion about Converge inevitably returns to 2001's Jane Doe. Widely regarded as one of the most important and influential heavy albums of the 21st century, Jane Doe helped redefine what hardcore and metalcore could be. Its collision of chaotic aggression, emotional vulnerability and striking visual identity established a blueprint that countless bands would follow, yet few have come close to replicating.
Twenty-five years later, its impact remains undeniable.
To celebrate that milestone, Converge will headline the inaugural Lucidity in Melbourne on Saturday 13 March, performing Jane Doe in its entirety in an extraordinarily rare appearance. The sold-out event will be only the third time the band has performed the album in full, following appearances at Roadburn in 2016 and Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in 2021.
The headline tour is your chance to experience the full force of a band whose catalogue spans 35 years of relentless creativity, from the records that helped shape a genre to the new music proving that their fire burns as fiercely as ever.
Joining Converge across the Australian headline dates are Extortion, the country's uncompromising powerviolence veterans, whose ferocious live performances have earned them a formidable reputation, alongside Melbourne metalcore outfit Ends in Tragedy.
Texan experimental metal punks Portrayal Of Guilt will also join Converge for their additional Melbourne headline performance and both New Zealand dates, bringing their own boundary-pushing collision of hardcore, black metal and extreme music to the tour.
With an extraordinary body of work behind them and two formidable new albums to draw from, Converge remain a band driven not by nostalgia, but by the same creative urgency that first set them apart.
